Privacy policy
How Metabolic Pantry handles the small amount of data a visit to this site can generate, and the choices you keep over it.
What we measure
Key thing: the only visitor data we look at comes from Google Analytics 4, and only after you opt in. When you consent, GA4 records anonymized usage signals such as which pages you open, roughly where you are (inferred from your IP address, which we do not store), the type of device and browser you use, and the site or search that sent you here. We do not run our own login, and we do not ask you for a name, address, or payment details to read our reviews.
Consent Mode, off by default
Key thing: analytics start denied and stay denied until you accept. We run Google Consent Mode v2 with analytics and advertising storage set to denied from the moment the page loads. No analytics cookies are written and no measurement happens unless you choose “accept” on the cookie banner. Decline, and the denied state simply remains in place while you browse.
Cookies and local storage
Key thing: your choice is remembered in your own browser under a cookie-consent key. That entry lives in your browser's localStorage so we do not have to ask on every visit; it stays on your device and is not a tracking profile. If you accept analytics, GA4 then sets its own measurement cookies. Nothing beyond that is stored for advertising or sold to anyone.
How we use what we collect
Key thing: aggregated analytics exist so we can improve the reviews, nothing more. We look at trends — which comparisons people read, where they drop off, whether a page loads well — to decide what to write next and what to fix. We do not use this data to build individual profiles, target ads, or make decisions about any specific person.
We do not sell your data
Key thing: Metabolic Pantry never sells or rents your personal information. There is no data broker on the other end of this site. The only sharing that happens is with Google, as the processor that runs the analytics you consented to, described next.
Google as a third party
Key thing: when analytics are on, Google processes the data as an independent third party under its own terms. GA4 is a Google product, so any measurement you allow is handled according to Google's privacy policy and data-processing terms, which sit outside our control. If you would rather Google not receive analytics from any site, its browser opt-out add-on and your own cookie settings both stop it.
Your choices and rights
Key thing: you can opt out, reset, or clear your data at any time, from your own browser. Decline the banner and no analytics run. To withdraw a previous “accept,” clear this site's data or delete the cookie-consent entry from localStorage and reload — the banner returns and the default denied state applies again. Because we hold no account for you, there is no personal profile on our side to access or delete; for data already sent to Google, use the controls in your Google account or your browser. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access or delete data under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and you can email us to exercise them.
Children
Key thing: this site is for adults and is not directed at children. Metabolic Pantry is meant for readers 18 and older, and it is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through this site, email us and we will remove it.
How long data is kept
Key thing: retention is governed by GA4's settings, not a private store on our end. The aggregated analytics we consent-gate are retained for a limited window under Google Analytics' own retention controls, after which Google handles deletion. Your locally stored consent choice stays until you clear it yourself.
Security
Key thing: the site is served over HTTPS, and we keep our data footprint deliberately small. Collecting little is our main safeguard — there is no customer database of yours to breach here. No method of transmission over the internet is ever perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we hold as little as the site needs to run.
Changes to this policy
Key thing: if this policy changes, the current version always lives at this page. We may revise it as the site or our tools evolve. Meaningful updates take effect when posted here, so it is worth a look if privacy is on your mind.
Contact
Key thing: email notes@metabolicpantry.com with any privacy question or request. For how affiliate links fit into all this, see our funding disclosure.
